Leadership
Leaders aren’t born – they’re built. In the Young Marines, every challenge, every school, and every role you take on is a step toward becoming the leader you were meant to be.
Leadership is one of the three core values of the Young Marines. Our goal is to foster a culture of leadership within every unit through hands-on training and mentorship. Adult volunteers provide essential support, direction, and accountability, while senior youth members lead, mentor, and inspire their peers.
National Leadership Academy
Inner strength begins with a solid foundation. At the National Leadership Academy, Young Marines build on their foundation by developing leadership skills, facing their fears, and rising to new challenges. The program is designed to prepare the next generation of leaders within the Young Marines and beyond.
Through hands-on learning and self-discovery, participants are challenged to make sound decisions in tough situations and lead with integrity. The curriculum pushes youth physically, mentally, and morally. Graduates return to their units—and their communities—better equipped to set the example, support their peers, and work hard toward any goal they set.
Junior Leadership School (JLS)
Junior Leadership School introduces developing leaders to the essentials of self‑discipline, teamwork, and communication. It’s a foundational step for youth advancing toward leadership responsibility.
Senior Leadership School (SLS)
Senior Leadership School builds on the core pillars of self‑discipline, team building, and leadership. Young Marines learn to communicate effectively, solve problems, and develop their personal leadership identity.
Advanced Leadership School (ALS)
Advanced Leadership School is reserved for Young Marines who demonstrate exceptional maturity and capability. These Young Marines are tasked with leadership roles within their units, setting the example for others.
