What We Do
This is where action builds character. You’ll train, serve, and lead, learning what it means to step up when it matters most. Here’s what you can expect in the Young Marines.
The Young Marines is a national youth organization for boys and girls, ages eight through high school. We focus on leadership, active citizenship through community service, self-discipline, and the value of a healthy, drug‑free lifestyle. The program honors the Marine Corps’ core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and upholds our own values of Leadership, Discipline, and Teamwork.
How Units Operate
Local units are led by dedicated adult volunteers who guide youth through an orientation called Recruit Training. This 26-hour introduction, offered across multiple weekly sessions or in a weekend workshop, covers history, customs and courtesies, drill, physical fitness, and rank structure.
After graduation, Young Marines continue developing skills, earn rank, proudly wear the uniform and work toward special ribbon awards for leadership, first aid, academic achievement, community service, swimming and drug prevention and resistance education.
Citizenship in Action
