Young Marines graduates largest class in last decade - The Columbian

Youth member of the Young Marines graduates recruit trainingThe Lewis & Clark Young Marines graduated a class of 50 — 37 boys  and 13 girls ages 8-15 — on March 23, the group’s largest graduating  class in 10 years. The ceremony was at Hough Elementary School. Mike  Kessler, former National Young Marine executive director/CEO, was the  guest speaker. Their training included practical knowledge and physical fitness, history and practical skills.

They were trained by seven Lewis & Clark Young Marine recruit instructors and eight Lewis & Clark Young Marine adult volunteer leaders. Deonna Grove from Ridgefield High School was awarded the title of honor graduate for placing first overall out of the annual recruit class. She was awarded the William W. Hillgaertner Honor Graduate Award and promoted to private first class.
