BECOMING A YOUNG MARINE

You don’t join. You become a Young Marine.

Your journey, like every other Young Marine, starts at recruit training. Its where Young Marines are forged and leaders emerge.

Future Young Marine Recruits must meet the following requirements:

=       Youth must be between 8-18 years old

=       Must have NOT yet completed high school.

=       Have a recent Physical Exam or School Sports Physical (less than 1 year old)

=        Current Immunization Record

=       Copy of Medical Insurance Card (front and back)

=       Birth Certificate

=       Social Security Card

=       Attend a unit Open House/Registration with at least one parent/guardian

But wait! What about special needs youth?

Some youth will be able to participate in our program based upon their abilities. Not all youth are suited for this program, but every youth is given the opportunity to be a part of this program if they are able to complete the program’s requirements. We have had several youths with various disabilities in the past who successfully completed the program and either continue to participate or have graduated from the program.

Signing up your youth without consulting us could result in his or her failure to successfully complete the program because we won’t know when to make modifications to the training.

For an assessment of if your child’s ability to succeed in this program, please send us an email or fill out a contact form so we can speak with you directly about your child’s specific abilities.

Fees, Uniforms and Equipment

=      $25 yearly National Young Marine registration fee

=      o $65 initial join fee for CCYM

=      o Uniforms and equipment fees will vary based upon the needs of the Young Marine. Some items will be provided during training, however remaining items will need to be individually purchased

Location and Time

During Recruit Training, recruits will be required to attend EACH week of training until completion with no more than 3 missed drill periods. They will also be required to attend at least one Saturday event and an overnight trip.

As a Young Marine, your child will be required to attend each week of training and any other event the unit deems mandatory. If your Young Marine must miss a drill period or event, they will be able to obtain an excused absense beforehand known in the program as a "Leave of Absence." This authorizes their excuse from the event and allows them to continue attending our awesome trips in the future!

We regularly meet Monday night from 6:30-8:30 pm at the VFW Post #7383, located at 522 Reedy Creek Rd, Cary NC 27513
