To become a Young Marine, all youth members must complete Recruit Training. Recruit Training is designed to teach the recruits the basics of what it means to be a Young Marine. Recruits will learn:
- Teamwork, Leadership, and Discipline
- Close Order Drill
- Military Terms and Jargon
- Marine Corps Enlisted Rank Structure
- Uniform Care and Maintenance
- Physical Fitness
- Military Customs and Courtesies
- And More!
Things you need to know before joining:
Youth members must be at least 8 years old and have not completed High School.
At least one parent/legal guardian and all youths to be registered must attend an Orientation/Registration.
You will also need the following.
- Birth Certificate and Social Security Card (for verification purposes only)
- Immunization Record
- Recent Physical Exam or School Sports Physical (less than one year old)
- Copy of Medical Insurance Card (front and back)
Recruit Registration Fees - $300.00 $50 dues includes national dues and unit dues ~$250 - uniforms, gear, & Recruit Training supplies
Our unit provides opportunities to fundraise or seek scholarships to help with the initial costs.
Become an Adult Volunteer.
Registered volunteers in the Young Marines are adults age 18 and up who possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Every volunteer has been background checked and verified through character references. The annual registration for adult volunteers is national dues. Adult volunteers who attend 2+ drills/events per month for 10 months a year will have their dues paid for by the unit.

New recruits can only join our Poolee Program and Recruit Training once all registration documents are complete and initial dues are turned in as explained at orientation. We look forward to contacting all families who fill out the Join/Volunteer form for their interested youth or adult volunteer!Next Steps for Youth:1) Youth can attend one hour per drill as a Poolee once all paperwork has been filled out and national dues have been paid.
2) We will schedule Recruit Training dates once we have 5+ Poolees on the Roster (or at least once per year).
3) Youth will be required to attend 26+ hours of Recruit Training to learn the essentials for Graduation to become official Casper Mountain Young Marines. Remaining Recruit fees are due at the start of Recruit Training.
4) Once a Young Marine, youth will attend 2-3 drills a month and have the option to attend additional events such as color guards, encampments, unit trips, and community service/outreach events.
