The Young Marines is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) youth education and service program for boys and girls, aged eight through high school graduation. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on teaching the values of leadership, teamwork, and self-discipline, so its members can live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Units are led by dedicated adult volunteers who mentor and guide youth members. It is through these caring adults that Young Marines learn the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Volunteer Today

About the Laurel Highlands Young Marines
There are currently 14 units in the state of Pennsylvania. The Laurel Highlands Young Marines has served Windber and the surrounding area since 2002. The adult staff is all volunteer and consists of YM family members, members from all different professions within the community, and veterans.
In the Laurel Highlands Young Marines, youth receive opportunities to build their pride and leadership skills through such challenging events as: rappelling; intense physical fitness training; camping; close order drill; swimming; land navigation and many other activities. They get opportunities to earn promotions and ribbons through their achievements as they develop their skills. There are also travel opportunities as the Young Marines participates in national schools, adventures, or encampments with other units.
