Thank you for your interest in joining our unit. 

To become a Young Marine, all youth members must complete Recruit Training. Recruit Training is designed to teach the recruits the basics of what it means to be a Young Marine. Recruits will learn:
  • Teamwork, Leadership, and Discipline
  • Close Order Drill
  • Military Terms and Jargon
  • Marine Corps Enlisted Rank Structure
  • Uniform Care and Maintenance
  • Physical Fitness
  • Military Customs and Courtesies
  • And More!

Things you need to know before joining:

  • Youth members must be at least 8 years old and have not completed high school.
  • At least one parent/legal guardian and all youths to be registered must attend an Orientation meeting, scheduled 4-5 weeks before Recruit training begins.

You will also need the following:
  • Social Security or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (for verification purposes only)
  • Immunization Record
  • Recent Physical Exam or School Sports Physical (less than one year old)
  • Copy of Medical Insurance Card (front and back)

Recruit Registration Fees:

  • Usually about $350.00
  • Includies cost of uniform, gear, food, and other items

Annual Registration Fees:
  • The annual national registration fee is usually around $100-$200.  
  • Young Marines from current year Recruit class will not have to pay re-registration fees until the second year of their enrollment.

Recruit Training:
Recruit training at Mountain View is completed over two back-to-back weekends, Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, usually in the summer. Both weekends, Recruits will arrive at 1800 (6 p.m.) on Friday night and depart no later than 1500 (3 p.m.) on Sunday. Recruits sleep at the training facility for both nights of each weekend. 

A Parent/Guardian & Recruit Orientation Meeting is held approximately 4-5 weeks in advance of Recruit Training. A Uniform Sizing Meeting is held approximately 3 weeks prior to start of Recruit Training. Anyone who has expressed interest will be informed of the meetings and training dates in advance.


Becoming an Adult Volunteer:
Adult Volunteers serve at the pleasure of the Unit Commander, after they pass a national background check and provide character references. Adult Volunteers must be at least
18 and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
