Miramar Young Marines
Age Requirement: The Young Marine Program is for youth 8 years through completion of High School.
Time Investment:
Our Unit meets regularly twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We meet on the MARINE CORPS AIR STATION (MCAS) MIRAMAR.
Miltary Pre-Requisite:
The Young Marines is not a pre-requisite for the military; our organization instills discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Our program teaches Young Marines how to lead a drug-free lifestyle and to be a productive citizen.
Some Young Marines do choose to join the armed service but we do not facilitate that process.
Parents and/or Guardian Commitment:
We hope you support the Young Marines goals and continue our mission at home to give them the highest success rate possible.
Our Commitment:
The Young Marines is not a short time commitment; we are year round.
The Senior Young Marines plan the drills; maintain their role as Leaders and are monitored by our Staff (Adult Volunteers).
All Adult Volunteers go through a thorough background check before they are approved.
Recruit Training:
Recruit Training is scheduled twice a year; usually early Spring (February/March) and late Summer (August)
At Recruit Training; your child will learn:
- Teamwork, Leadership, and Discipline
- Close Order Drill
- Military Terms and Jargon
- Marine Corps Enlisted Rank Structure
- Uniform Care and Maintenance
- Physical Fitness
- Military Customs and Courtesies
- And More!
Poolee Program Cost $150
Annual FEE for YM program, unit T-shirt, Training materials and supplies.
(PAYMENT WILL NEED TO BE MADE BEFORE OR AT THE START OF THE POOLEE PROGRAM)
Recruit Registration (Enrollment) Fee: $300
Full Uniform, nameplates and patches sewn onto uniform, uniform accessories, ribbons and ribbon racks, training materials and supplies, unit T-Shirt (DIFFERENT THEN THE POOLEE SHIRT) and encampment cost
