Swansboro Young Marines is located at VFW Post 9960, in Cedar Point, NC. We are proud to be a part of a National Program for boys and girls between the ages of eight to the completion of high school.
Young Marines rely heavily upon teaching and instilling the 3 core values of Discipline, Teamwork, and Leadership. Our goal is to set a positive example; to instruct, inspire and develop leadership skills in our youth for America's future.
During recruit training, participants are instructed on Close Order Drill, Marine Corps Enlisted Rank Structure, Marine and Young Marine History, Basic Field Skills, and Military Customs and Courtesies, etc! They participate in numerous activities including community service projects, encampments, team-building activities, and leadership schools, and much more!! Some of the activties are done with other Young Marine units to build commraderie.
The Young Marines promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle by giving instruction about the dangers of using drugs/alcohol and how to deal with negative peer pressure.
